Bernards Township Voters’ Registers

The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills (THSSH) released a new searchable online collection—Bernards Township NJ Voters’ Registers.  The documents cover the years 1905 (District 1), 1930 (District 2), and 1947-48 (Districts 1, 2, & 3).  In many cases, the streets where the people lived are given and, in some cases, whether they were Republicans or Democrats (indicated by R or D on the left side).

For example:  A search for “Koechlein” will find the Koechlein family, which ran the general store in Liberty Corner.

These lists can be compared with the U.S. and NJ state censuses (available free at FamilySearch.com) to gain further insight into the families.  The lists may also provide useful information on when foreign-born individuals were naturalized. Note the 1905 list shows only male voters because the 19th amendment granting women the right to vote was passed in 1919.
