Basking Ridge Milk Bottle

C. M. Greulock Milk Bottle. Click to enlarge.

In 1915, the Greulock Dairy in Basking Ridge, NJ, delivered milk in bottles like the one pictured.  The dairy was run by Carl Martin Greulock who was born in Lyons, NJ, on May 27, 1887, son of George Greulock and Mathilda Rother.   Carl had earlier run an ice business, which he had taken over from the Amerman brothers in Bernardsville.

The dairy did not last long but left us with this wonderful artifact now in the Brick Academy.  In 1920, Carl bought land in Putnam County, NY, and was living there in 1926 when his sister Miss Agatha Greulock visited Carl and his wife Eleanor.  Carl died January 16, 1955, in Georgetown, DE, where he was described as a chicken farmer.
