Date: March 6, 2022
Time: 2:00 pm

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Historical Society of the Somerset Hills invites you to attend Finding Kate: The Unlikely Journey of 20th Century Healthcare Advocate Kate Macy Ladd at the Brick Academy, 15 W Oak St, Basking Ridge, NJ.

Author Meryl Carmel will bring to life the inspiring story of Kate Macy Ladd, the original owner of the Natirar Estate, followed by a book signing and refreshments.

A free signed book to the first four attending.

During the Gilded Age, Standard Oil heiress Kate Macy Ladd established a convalescent facility on her 1,000 acre Natirar Estate in Peapack-Gladstone, NJ, where “deserving gentle-women who are compelled to depend upon their own exertions for support shall be entertained without charge for periods of time while convalescing from illness, recuperating from impaired health, or otherwise in need of rest.”

The story will be told through an informative PowerPoint lecture illustrated with historic images from the private Macy and Ladd family collections revealing one woman’s life of faith charity and resilience.
