Somerset County’s Journey Through The Past

Thirty-four unique historic sites will participate in Somerset County’s twentieth annual event of special exhibits, interactive demonstrations, guided tours, and music concerts…all open and free to the public!

Explore the area’s quaint villages, learn about prominent residents, witness early colonial life, and discover Revolutionary War sites.

Participate in the new Passport Program. Visit sites, collect stamps, take a survey, and win prizes! To celebrate next year’s 250th Anniversary of the Nation, the first 250 people to visit at least five sites will win a commemorative coin.

The Brick Academy, headquarters of The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills (THSSH), will feature “What Put Somerset Hills on the Map”- a permanent display of the five communities—Basking Ridge, Bedminster, Bernardsville, Far Hills and Peapack-Gladstone–covered by THSSH. The William Annin 1776 stone house model and locally excavated Lenni Lenape artifacts are included in the displays. The upstairs 1890s school room, designed for early education programs, has a pot belly stove, period furniture, and early student classwork. The Museum also includes a rotating exhibit currently featuring “The Natirar Estate and Kate Macy Ladd Convalescent Home.”
